Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about your Austin Acoustics speaker. Can't find what you're looking for? Contact our support team.
Which colour should I choose?
Celest Midnight Black is for those who let the music do the talking. Celest Star Light is for those who want the speaker noticed before a note is played. Both are identical in performance. The choice is purely about who you are.
How long does the battery last?
Up to 20 hours depending on volume. The LED indicator on the unit shows you where you're at: white for healthy, yellow for mid, red for low.
How long does it take to charge?
The Celest takes 2–3 hours from empty via the included USB-C cable.
Can it charge my phone?
Yes. There's a USB output port on the unit that delivers 5V / 2A, enough to charge your phone while the speaker plays.
What's the battery capacity and how long does it actually last?
12000mAh. Up to 20 hours at moderate volume less if you're pushing the bass hard or running high volume outdoors. The LED battery indicator gives you a live read in three colour-coded stages.
Can it charge my devices while playing?
Yes. There's a dedicated USB output port running at 5V / 2A. Enough to charge a phone at a reasonable rate while the speaker is in use.
Does it work without a phone?
Yes. Load a USB drive or MicroSD card with music and it plays independently. No phone, no Bluetooth, no internet needed.
Can two people connect to it?
Not at the same time, but it remembers the last paired device and reconnects automatically. Switching between two phones is straightforward. Disconnect one, pair the other.
What's the Bluetooth version and range?
Bluetooth 5.3 with a quoted range of approximately 30 metres in open space. Real-world range will vary with walls and interference, but the 5.3 spec keeps the connection stable and efficient.
Can it play audio without a connected device?
Yes, plug in a USB flash drive or a MicroSD card loaded with audio files and it plays independently. Supports MP3, WMA, WAV, APE, and FLAC. No phone required.
How do I pair two units for stereo?
Hold the TWS button on both Celest units. They'll assign left and right channels automatically and confirm via LED. From there they behave as a single stereo system.
How do I trigger my voice assistant?
Hold the play/pause button for 3 seconds. Works with Siri, Google Assistant, and any assistant your phone supports natively.
What's the driver configuration?
Four drivers in a stereo arrangement: two 3.5-inch woofers handling the low and mid-range, and two 2-inch tweeters up top. Combined output is 80W, tuned for width and warmth rather than just raw loudness.
Does it support FLAC and lossless formats?
Yes. When playing locally stored files via USB or TF card, the Celest supports FLAC, WAV, and APE alongside MP3 and WMA. For the full lossless experience, load your files onto a USB drive or MicroSD and bypass Bluetooth entirely.
Can I adjust the EQ?
Three onboard EQ modes, no app needed. Music Mode for a balanced profile, Treble Mode for presence and air, Bass Mode for low-end weight. Switched directly from the speaker via the MODE button.
Is 80W real or peak?
Rated output: not peak, not marketing math. 80W continuous across four drivers in stereo configuration
Does the bass mode actually add sub-bass or just boost the mid-bass?
Bass Mode shifts the EQ toward the low end for weight and presence. For true sub-bass extension you'd need a subwoofer; at this driver size and enclosure format, Bass Mode delivers punch and warmth rather than room-shaking sub frequencies.
Will it clip or distort at max volume?
It's tuned to perform cleanly across the volume range. Pushing any speaker to its absolute ceiling will introduce some compression, but the Celest is voiced to stay controlled rather than break up early.
Does TWS degrade audio quality compared to single unit use?
TWS introduces a second Bluetooth hop which can add marginal latency and slightly affect codec performance depending on your source device. For music listening the difference is negligible. For video sync it's more noticeable.
What's the IPX rating and what does that actually mean for real use?
IPX5: protected against sustained water jets from any direction. Rain, splashes, beach spray, poolside use; all fine. It is not submersion rated, so keep it above the waterline.
Does it have a built-in mic for calls?
Yes. Hands-free calling is fully supported. Answer with a short press of play/pause, reject with a 2-second hold, end with a short press again. Voice assistant activation is a 3-second hold on the same button.
How long is the warranty on the Austin Celest?
Every Austin Celest comes with a 2-year warranty from the date of purchase.
Who is the warranty valid for?
The warranty is for the original purchaser only. It's non-transferable; if the speaker changes hands, the warranty doesn't go with it.
Do I need to keep my invoice?
Yes. Your original purchase bill is the only proof of purchase we accept for warranty claims. Hold onto it.
What does the warranty cover?
Any manufacturing defect or performance issue that arises under normal usage conditions within the 2-year period.
What isn't covered?
Physical damage, misuse, unauthorised repairs or modifications, and anything resulting from usage outside normal operating conditions.
Can I get a replacement if my unit is defective?
Yes, if a manufacturing defect is confirmed, the unit is eligible for replacement. The product needs to be in its original packaging with all accessories present and accounted for.
How do I make a warranty claim?
Reach out at support@theaustinacoustics.com or call +91 88008 33177. Have your invoice ready and a clear description of the issue, we'll take it from there.
